Bartlesville Support Group Meeting for People with Visual Impairments Oct 7 at Tall Grass Estates Independent Living Center

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. − The Bartlesville support group for adults with visual impairments will meet from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Wed., Oct. 7, at the Tall Grass Estates Independent Living Center, located at 2633 SE Mission Drive.

There is no charge to attend the meeting. Those who come will have an opportunity to win door prizes. Participants may eat lunch in the cafeteria at 12:30 p.m.

Those who work with people who are visually impaired are also encouraged to attend.

Vicky Golightly, public information officer, and Jay Doudna, library technician, from the Oklahoma Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped will provide information about the new the digital players for recorded books that are available through the library. The recorded books and players are available free of charge to those who have visual impairments or other disabilities that make it difficult to use standard print.

Visual Services sponsors the meeting on the first Wednesday of every month. The host is Charley Tipps, a rehabilitation vocational teacher, who serves Visual Services clients in the Bartlesville area.

Visual Services provides vocational rehabilitation, employment assistance and services that enable Oklahomans with vision loss to regain or maintain maximum independence and self-sufficiency. The division also operates the Oklahoma Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped.
