Wheelchair Access:
House conference rooms on first, second, fourth and fifth floors, west side of the Capitol, are accessible to persons using wheelchairs. Reserved wheelchair accessible seating locations are available in each room. The conference rooms have also been designated as alternate meeting locations for persons with disabilities desiring to meet with legislators or staff.
Chair lifts are located at southeast and northeast House gallery entrances on the fifth floor, west side of the Capitol. Ask House personnel for assistance as needed. The gallery provides public access to House proceedings.
Handicapped parking spaces are located at the Capitol's south entrance area, and limited spaces are designated at the west entrance. For information about parking contact the State Capitol Patrol at 405-521-1316.
A wheelchair is available for use while visiting the House of representatives. At least 48 hours of advance notice is needed to ensure availability. To reserve the wheelchair, contact the House Sergeant at Arms at (405) 521-2711 ext. 313.
Accessible public restrooms are located on all floors. Facilities on 2nd and 3rd floors have automatic-assisted doors.
Access for Deaf and Hard of Hearing
The House will arrange for sign language interpreters for committee meetings and sessions. 48 hours advance notice is needed. Persons needing this service should contact the ADA Coordinator. Assisted listening systems have been installed in conference rooms 412-C and 432-A and in the House Chamber. Headphones may be checked out from the Sergeant at Arms.
Access for Persons with Visual Impairments
House offices and conference rooms are marked with braille signage. Elevators have audio floor notification and braille controls. House personnel are available to further assist individuals with visual disabilities, as needed. The House will make large print and braille documents available on request. To request accessible documents contact the ADA Coordinator.
